Fabrizio Cesare Filippo Di Pasquale, full professor of Telecommunications, is the new director of the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence. Fabrizio Cesare Filippo Di Pasquale - who succeeds Massimo Bergamasco, full professor of Applied Mechanics of Machines - received best wishes and congratulations from the entire academic community.

"I am happy and honored by this election. My goal is to continue the development and strategy of the Institute founded by Massimo Bergamasco and contribute to the achievement of high and sustainable levels of scientific excellence, technological innovation and industrial collaboration."

Fabrizio Cesare Filippo Di Pasquale's research interests focus on photonic technologies for industrial sensing applications with strong impact in technology transfer.

As a full professor at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna he coordinated the research area "Photonic Sensing Integrated Systems," composed of a team of physicists, electronic, mechanical and aerospace engineers. He has gained experience in the acquisition and management of more than 30 regional, national, European and industrial projects, achieving relevant results in a highly multidisciplinary context, that of the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence, which is extremely promising for future developments in the automotive, robotics, aerospace, railway, energy and biomedical sectors, where technological innovation can have enormous impact in addressing the technological and socio-economic challenges of the future.

The new director has co-authored more than 250 publications in peer reviewed journals and international conference proceedings, and is the co-inventor of more than 25 patents.

Fabrizio Cesare Filippo Di Pasquale has coordinated and directed relationships with companies in strategic sectors directing photonics from fundamental research to applications, establishing strong and lasting relationships with major companies in Italy and abroad such as Brembo, Baker-Hughes, RFI and Continental. He was director of the National Photonic Networks Laboratory of the National Interuniversity Consortium for Telecommunications, where he coordinated numerous teams of faculty and researchers.
