Performance Evaluation System of Tuscany Region

In 2005 Tuscany Region adopted the performance evaluation system as one of the governance tools of its regional healthcare system.

MeS Lab yearly publishes a report (http://www.meslab.sssup.it/en/index.php?page=report) with the results obtained by Tuscan Healthcare Authorities in terms of healthcare performance. The report circulates among regional councillors, managers working in the healthcare sector, mayors and citizens interested in it.

The performance evaluation system is validated by an international Scientific Committee for evaluation, composed by professors and experts at local and worldwide levels:

•    Prof. Adalsteinn Brown (Deputy Minister, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Ontario, Canada),

•    Prof. Richard Gwyn Bevan (Professor of Management Science at London School of Economics and Political Science, UK),

•    Prof. Gregorio Gomez Soriano (Director of the District Healthcare, Agencia Valenciana de Salud, Spain),

•    Prof. Piergiorgio Strata (Professor at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Turin and Director of the National Institute of Neuroscience, Italy).
